چکیده
Fused deposition modelling (FDM) has so far been recognized for its reliability and simplicity manufacturing of geometrically-complex polymeric materials with 3D printing technique. Recently, the studies concerning properties fabricated by using FDM have growing, including those related to their wear resistance which is considered critical when a 3D-printed material must work sliding over surface another during application. Up now, however, influence several FDM-printing parameters, raster orientations, on printed not yet fully understood. In this research, orientations FDM-processed polylactic-acid (PLA) in bovine blood serum were determined. A reciprocating pin-on-plate tribometer was used evaluate cylindrical PLA pin that slid commercially-pure titanium (Ti) plate. The results showed FDM-printed pins unidirectional had higher factors (WF), i.e., ~1.5 ´ 10-4 mm N-1 m-1 than crossed ~0.8 m-1. Meanwhile, WF values Ti against ~0.09 m-1, also significantly lower having orientation, 0.34 – 0.41 result analysis worn morphologies shows indications abrasion, fatigue polymer film transfer as possible mechanisms both countersurface material. On basis all findings it can be concluded orientation preferable one parameters resistant rather orientation.

Sliding wear behaviour of alumina/nickel nanocomposites processed by a conventional sintering route
The wear resistance of Al2O3/2.5 vol.% Ni nanocomposites sintered by a conventional route was studied under ball-on-disk dry sliding conditions and compared with the same nanocomposites but consolidated by spark plasma sintering, together with alumina obtained by the same technique and by hot pressing. The results showed an improvement of about 0.5, 1 and 2 orders of magnitude, respectively. Th...
متن کاملPolylactic acid (PLA)
This website provides an excellent overview of PLA as a polymer, its properties, and manufacture. This web article describes the production of lactic acid from biomass by microbial fermentation coupled to a poly-merization process to make PLA. The article is a bit dated and its industrial projections are now seen to be a bit over-optimistic. NatureWorks is the company that started large-scale p...
